I have been laying on it thick with poetry these few days. But really wanted to share them with you. Hope you don’t mind.

A couple of months ago at Church we had a youth Sunday. A Sunday where the youth only would be involved during the church service, for example, the singing, sermon etc.

A few weeks before the youth Sunday I was asked to write a poem about what it’s like to be a Christian youth in today’s world. I said yes.

However, as I started to think about what I would like to compose my mind just went blank. And this continued for so many days. Until one day it just came to be and obviously it wasn’t me but God who gave me the right words to type into my newly opened Word document.

So here it is.

Hope you like it !

Youthful Makeover

Oh, to be young!

It’s easier said than done.

Handed to you just like that.

Hello ! Where’s the instruction manual ?

Everyday is a challenge, like what to wear

And what do I do with my hair.

And like,

Seriously, Why me ? That’s not fair !

I’m just trying to fit into these shoes.

Way too big or just too small.

Emotions run high, sometimes sad or angry.

Misunderstood.

It’s just a phase I was told.

This too shall pass.

Looking back,

I am not who I used to be.

It’s the blood of Christ that set me free.

Free from the chains of sin and agony.

Out with the old,

And in with a new heart,

A new spirit.

I no longer am young and lost,

Without an identity.

I am bought with a price.

Precious in Christ, with a Church family.

Loved, Accepted.

Though this road is rocky,

And dark.

I carry on.

Temptations, struggles,

Never perfect will I be.

But I overcome, He still is Working on me.

This world sometime

Had its hold on me.

I once was blind but now I see.
